Last week, I decided to train my dog and make him strong and sporty. My dog was named Sparky and was a friendly German Shepherd. Sparky was a good dog, he wasn't afraid of anything except perhaps the sea. This was a problem as we lived right by the beach.
Sparky and I would often see a lot of people surfing as we walked along the sand, and I really wanted to try it out. Sparky didn't like the idea of that.
Pulling the leash, I tried to get Sparky into the water but he was so afraid. Tug after tug finally got him down to the shore. Gently, I put my hand in my pocket and brought out Sparky’s favourite treat. Tossing it into the water, Sparky took a few small steps towards the waves. Scared as a bird, he took little steps into the water and moved closer towards the treat.
“Sparky you accomplished your goal you're not scared any more.’
“Woof woof” he barked without any fear.
As Sparky was in the water, I grabbed a surfboard to begin our surfing lesson. Placing the board on the sand, we learnt a lot of new training techniques from a friendly instructor
Strapped tightly to the board, we were ready to surf. Heading towards the massive waves, I triple tightened his life jacket and triple knotted the rope that was attach to the board. I wanted ot make sure that Sparky was secure, I’d hate for anything to go wrong.
Off he went getting closer to the wave. “Splash!” Out came Sparky, surfing the biggest wave I’d ever seen.”Go Sparky” I shouted with happiness.
Watching Sparky surf the wave was the best thing that happened to me. I raced to the car and got the camera and filmed him, so we could watch it over and over again. Sparky, poking his tongue out, emerged from a big wave looking happy and amazed.
Filled with confidence, Sparky attempted a trick. Slipping off his board, the safety rope, that I had taken care to secure, was easily destroyed. Watching Sparky falling into the cold blue sea, I freaked out and was scared and quickly called the emergency number.
Surprised and shocked, Sparky suddenly appeared having floated up to the surface. Thank goodness for triple tightening his life jacket. As he paddled back to shore, I was glad that my dog was safe and not hurt.
”No more tricks Sparky” I told him, “Woof!” he replied!
