PES Farewell

My time here at Point England School has expired and has ended. I like thank all my teachers that have taught me all the things that I need to know in life and also teaching me the good ways to communicate with others. Im really gonna miss this school well as my friends as they all set off to different colleges. I also like to say a farewell to Mr Burt who taught us how to be role models to others and also to everyone that taught me during my childhood through primary. I'm really going to miss this school.

Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela was an South African president who fought for the blacks.  He wanted all the blacks to be treated equally with the same rights and the same respect. He wanted them to get along without any racism and protesting.

Rolihlahla Mandela was born on july 18, 1918 in a small village Mvezo where he was brought up with his dad until he past away (of tuberculosis) when Mandela was nine years of age. From there he was raised by Jongintaba, until he escaped from an arranged marriage he wanted no part of. Mandela went to Clarkebury boarding to receive his junior certificate, where he got the name Nelson from his teacher, then from there he went to Healdtown, a Wesleyan secondary school of some repute.

August 5 1962 Nelson Mandela was arrested for fleeing the country without a passport, he was then sentenced to 5 years in prison on the 7th of november. Mandela was then transported to 3 different prison, Robben island, Pretoria Local Prison, then released from Victor Verster Prison.

. Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was a south african who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He was the first black South African to hold the office, and the first elected in a fully representative democratic election. Nelson Mandela changed the world for most south africans he changed it so they don't get teased for their colour that they can own their own businesses and that all of them could get along and be treated fairly with the same respect.

Year 8 Camp

Arriving at school bright and early on tuesday the 3rd of december year eights students went down to Rotorua for our end of the year camp to finish our last year here at Point England School. My Group I was in was called the demilicious I was in their with my classmates Ahsin and Studamyer. Getting onto the kiwi coach bus it was filled with year 8 boys. Giving our last waves to our teachers we were off on a long bus drive down the line. Heading around the corner Dillon started to play the guitar and we all sang songs.

Driving for a long period of time I started to get bored so I just sat there and waited for this long drive to finish. Arriving at Keswick christian camp we unloaded the bus and took our stuffs to our rooms. I was in a room with my class friends Jesiah, Ahsin and Stuadamyer. Unpacking our bags we went outside and had free time before we went off for a run through the forest.

Arriving at the place I was tired to run so I just kicked it at the back with my friends. Seeing my buddie run ahead of me I started to jog and I caught up to James. Gently jogging with James we were almost catching up to the front but then we both got tired so we waited for other to pass by. Catching our breath we ran and we caught lorenz down the hill so we stuck with him the whole way. Getting back to the campsite we had an opportunity to go for a swim in the lake.

On the next day we got up early and started our day. Walking in the dining room we made our own lunch and got ready. Getting onto the bus we went to do our first activity seeing a real geyser. After that we went to this place where they talk about the sheeps that live here in NZ. Watching all those sheep go up there it was funny and clever. Watching the guy talk about sheep he told a few people to come up on the stage to milk a cow. Max and waata were the brave ones that went for us.

Looking at waata go up he pretended his name was James so we all laughed and watched him milk the cow. After watching the show these brainy farm dogs came out and showed us some of their tricks they could do. After that activity we went on to the bus and went back to Keswick and did our Item practise for prize giving the following week.

After that we went up stairs of the dining room and watched a movie (Pitch Perfect).
Finally after that long day of activities we went to our rooms and went to sleep. On the third day of camp we got up bright and early to go for a walk around blue lake. It was a long walk around the lake but it was pretty cool talking to my mates the whole way. Finally after sore legs of walking a couple of kilometres we arrived at the blue lake where we got the opportunity to swim and bomb off the pontune.

So exhausted of walking everywhere we arrived back at the Keswick camp and rushed to the hot showers. Straight after a long hot shower Mrs langitupu told us to pack our togs because we're going to a nearby swimming pools.

Feeling so annoyed of wasting my time having a shower I just packed my togs incase I wanted to swim. Arriving at the Rotorua pools we had to listen to the instructor what we ain’t allowed to do and what we are allowed to do. Rushing to the 2m high pool the year 8 boys bombed in. Finally waiting for the lifeguard to open the mini trampoline we all jumped in. After a long day of walking and swimming we went back for dinner and to do our item practise.

On the final day of camp we had a item by the International champion Choir group Richmond school. Straight after that beautiful Choir group finished we went back into our rooms and packed up our gear and loaded it back onto the bus before we left for the luge ride. So desperate to go on the luge we finally got there where we took our group photos. Finally reaching up top where the luge rides where we started to line up.

Watching all my mates drive past me looked so fun. Finally reaching the top of the line we hopped into a wet luge and started to drive. Heading down the hill Ahsin crashed right next to me so I tried to catch up but he was gone. After that fun experience for the first time We got into the bus and drove back to Auckland.

Netbook Reflection

I have learn’t a lot of experience using this special technology device over this whole year. My teacher, Miss King has taught me a lot about using google and taught us lots of new sites that can improve our work.

The most significant thing i’ve learnt online this year is to create cool animations on this cool site called scratch. Scratch is where most people created their games from for example pacman. I have learnt a lot from all my friends I have learnt how to go on proxy servers and learnt how to download things.

I have taught a lot to my friends I have taught them how to get on to sites and helped them with their work. My work has grown a lot because of my netbook I can use the internet to search up things and also use online work sites like Math Whizz, Xtra Maths and google docs.

Swimming

gif maker For the past two weeks year 7-8 students from pt england got to go and swim at the YMCA pools in Glen Innes. Walking down to the pools in the hot sun I noticed we were sharing the pools with Room 19. Getting into the medium pool we had to do a swimming test to see what level our swimming is at. I thought in my head I’m not a good swimmer but ill try my best. Heading to the toilets I came back and didn’t know what group I was in so I just jumped in any.
Ready to start Our lessons Rocky handed me his goggles and we started to swim. So tired of swimming we still had a lot of laps to do. Thinking in my head I wished I could of done lines instead I swam back and it was the end. “Finally over” I said as I carried my stuff to the toilets.

Writing Sample

“Go to the Principals office” Miss Sally yelled as she pointed her finger to Christian as he  wasn’t focused on school work. Staunching angrily outside the classroom he was aware of a strange awkward whisper that had echoed through his ears. Taking a quick look back he couldn’t see anyone there. “Aye thats strange” he thought in his mind as he was destinate to find where it came from.

Feeling so anxious of trying to figure out where that whisper had come from he knew he would be in a lot of trouble if he didn’t go to the office. So he told Miss Sally and the class but they wouldn’t believe him they thought he was lying like he always does. But Christians friend Aidan believed him so they made up a plan to try find where that whisper came from.

Christians friend Aidan was gonna distract the principal while Christian tries to find where the whisper came from. He searched everywhere but there were no sounds of the whisper. Almost getting tired of searching he thought to himself “if I heard the strange whisper near my class its gotta be near there”. Arriving back at his classroom door he heard it the second time he was fortunate to figure where it was.

Searching around his classroom bay he was getting frustrated where it was coming from. “Could it be the birds” he thought as he kept searching where it was.
Taking another step in his classroom bay he could hear the screaming wind echoing straight through his ear drums as he was aware of the same particular sound. “It was the wind that whole time” he said as he rushed off to the principal office to spread the news to his friend Aidan.

Potaua - Halloween Recount

British and French isles started the celebration in order to respect the Lord of the Dead, Samhain. Druids or local priest started rituals and celebrations including bonfires, in the hopes that they would make Samhain happy.

Halloween is celebrated by having family traditions or community events. Halloween is a special day to remember the dead. The traditional event of Halloween for most countries is to dress up in a costume and walk around the neighbourhood to strangers houses.

Philippines trick-or treating is gradually replacing the tradition of Pangangaluluwà, a local version of the old English custom of souling. Some provinces in the Philippines still celebrates “Pangangaluluwa” by forming a group that will go house to house and offer a song in exchange for money or food.

For most countries halloween is celebrated on the 31st of October but some countries celebrate their Halloween day on November the 1st.

FairyTale

Rapunzel

Once upon a time, there was a King and a Queen who lived in a mansion far far in GI. One day the queen was ill and there was no cure treatment. A few days had passed by when the guards found a mysterious box full of panadol tablets. It was a treatment to help the Queen and her baby to survive.

“It’s a GIRL” shouted the King as tears rushed down his cheeks. She had very fine blonde hair. They named her Rapunzel. A year passed by, the baby started getting neglected. One night an evil and old bald witch had seen the cute baby sleeping. She broke the window, then snatched the baby right out of the cot. She took the baby and raised her as her own.

As years went by, Rapunzel grew older and became a teenager. The witch locked her up in a tall sky-tower. The witch made money off of the magical hair of rapunzel and the witch became rich and famous.

Meanwhile at the mansion the queen and king finally cared about Rapunzel. They updated a status on facebook and sent messages to all the royal family and the village . Being rewarded money to who could find and return Rapunzel alive. Everyone rounded up a group to find Rapunzel.

There is a charming prince named Mando who wanted to find Rapunzel by himself. He found the Sky Tower and Shouted “Rapunzel Rapunzel, are you there?” Rapunzel didn’t reply. He decided to go and find her. But the witch had a wicked plan. She had hidden in the closet and waited for Mando to come in.

Entering the room, I see nothing but darkness, all I could hear was the mumble of someone who had been taped across the mouth. It was Rapunzel, I went to follow the sound of her voice so I can untie her, when the lights flashed on. Popping out of the closet, unexpectedly the witch came out and tied him up.

“Help Help” cried Rapunzel. Begging for help the witch walked up to rapunzel wanting to give her a beating of a lifetime. Luckily, Mando had a knife on him. He had cut loose and freed Rapunzel.

They managed to escape but the witch had freed her hounds.
Running for their lives, Rapunzel tripped over the log. Looks to be that she had broken her leg. But the prince  remembered he had swiss army knife, as he saw the witch coming closer to hurt her. he pulled his knife”Swish” He cut Rapunzels hair, the witch slowly turned into dust and they lived happily ever after THE END.

Spoken Word

Today Joshua Iosefo came in to room 21 and talked to us about Spoken Word.
He says that everybody's voice is valuable and there's no limit to writing.Today I talked about Yr 7/8 school rules.
School rules are affecting everybody in yr 7/8 because we are getting in trouble for certain things. Mostly little things like shoes, bubble gum, tapping/drumming , and a lot more. The most important rule is attitude and behaviour it can get you in a lot of trouble. The most boring of all is being late for school. Our senior block starts school at 8:30 am and if we come 5 minutes late we get a detention. Only if we have a reasonable explanation we get let off.

Mando's Trip

Climbing and stretching Mando gripped his hand to the next rock. He held on tightly to the unstable cliff. Lucky to survive, he anxiously laid two hands on the top of the cliff and heaved himself up. Feeling tired and relieved he proceeded to the Dojo. “Finally” he shouted.

Walking tiredly to the Dojo he approached the door. He felt anxious and nervous, but was also curious to see if he was going to get in or not. Filled with fear, the door opened with the sensei coming out. Mando bowed down to him.

Looking at Mando, the sensei unexpectedly pointed to his right as he slammed the door angrily. Mando slumped his body  as he was walking away as he thought of something to do. He started meditating day n night as it became brighter. Peeking his one eye out he noticed that at the door was the sensi pointing to his right.

Turning around with terrier in his eyes he clinched his fist and karate kick the door. With the Sensei at the door Mando bowed to challenge him at a fight. Once again Sensei pointed to the right. Mando turning his head he noticed the sign “Please use side entrance”. Looking so confused Mando realized how much time he wasted.

Ultra Beef Burger

In LA 1984,  there was a cafe called “Sugar” & they made the world’s biggest Hamburgers that were the height and length of a normal car tire. They only make them twice a month, because it’s a deadly meal. This burger is known as the “Ultra Beef ” it can give you heartburn and even chest pains, but people still come back for more. The recipe is two Double sized meat patties fried in lard. Fresh cheese, tomato and two chicken breast as the buns.

One day a boy by the name of Tommy went into the cafe and asked for the “Ultra Beef”. He gobbled it up in 2 bites and it made him have a heart attack right there and then. He suffered from an illness called pneumonia. Pneumonia is a Lung disease. So the manager of the cafe decided to cut down on the fat. So they took out the cheese. The next day the manager asked someone to taste test the burger for a prize. It was their spokesman, As he gobbled it down his throat he fell to the ground with no sudden movements. Then the manager shocked with fear, shut the “Sugar” Cafe down for ever!!!!!

Making Ice cream

Equipment + Ingredients
1/2 Cup Milk
1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla
1 Tablespoon Sugar
4 Cups crushed Ice
4 Tablespoons Salt
2 Small size Zip-loc Bags
1 Large size Ziploc Freezer bag
Towel or Warm Gloves
Methodology

1. We first Mix the milk,Vanilla and sugar together in one of the small size bags. Seal tightly, allowing as
little air to remain in the bag as possible. Too much air left inside may force the bag open during shaking.

2. Place this bag inside the other small size bag, again leaving as little air inside as possible and sealing well. By double-bagging, the risk of salt and ice leaking into the ice-cream is minimized. Put the two bags inside the large size bag and fill the bag with ice, then sprinkle salt on top.

3. Again let all the air escape and seal the bag. Wrap the bag in the towel or put your
gloves on, and shake and massage the bag, making sure the ice surrounds the cream mixture.

4.Five to eight minutes is adequate time for the mixture to freeze into ice-cream.

It tasted yummy,Delicious.

.
What does the salt do to the ice?

The Heart Attack Grill

I think that The Heart Attack Grill should not be open in GI.

Why I think The Heart Attack Grill should not open is because they sell fatty food with nothing but filled with junk & Oil...

The Heart Attack Grill shouldn’t come because obesity amongst people from around Glen Innes will increase.

Jon Basso (Manager) Tells customers that his food he provides will make you fat and could also kill you but if you want it he will still give it to you, also if you’re over 350 pounds you can get anything on the menu for free.

The Heart Attack Grill is a fattening fast food place that sells nothing but junk. Many people in America die because of The Heart Attack Grill they suffer from a problem called obesity.

The burgers that The Heart Attack Grill sells is nothing but fat. Such as single, double, triple and the quadruple bypass burger with four meat patties, tomato, cheese & Lettuce. They also have sides like fries, dipped into Lard (Animal Fat oil) and to top it off they put in a butter Fat shake!!!

The Heart Attack Grill is Really bad for your health and teeth because they only serve you fatty food and there’s nothing on the menu that is healthy.
The Food That The Heart Attack Grill are selling are filled with oil & sodium and sugar. The burgers are fill with 800 calories, plus the chips and Fat Shake. A normal Healthy human being should only have 2000 calories each day.

We all need to stop obesity from coming to New Zealand and also stop The Heart Attack Grill from killing young people.

Making bread with Mama King

Today Room Fifteen had the lovely Mrs king in our class and we made homemade bread. It was Mrs King’s Mum, she calls her MAMA KING!. Unlucky for me and Wyatt we both had to finish off our writing/maths work.

As we were bored and stuck with school work we could see how much fun the rest of the class were having. So we started to work harder and finally we Finished!. Finally! Now we could make bread. But then we weren’t allowed because there was only half an hour left.

“Luckily for Me” (Wyatt) I got to join Jesiah & Max’s group. All I had to do was make a shapes out of dough and then “Mama King” Put the tray filled with the dough into the hot oven! Our bread was done, and it was delicioso! I gave most of mine to Potaua and Anthony.

Potaua & I wanted to give a big thanks for Mama King for coming to our class and showing us how to make delicious bread, Hopefully you have a awesome mothers day. Hope you come back soon to teach us other things.

Will.I.Am

Untitled
OMG! Will.i.am entered Point England School with his 6 bodyguards. The whole school was full of amazed as famous singer Will.I.am pulled up in the point england parking. As the prefects brought Will.I.am Alot of camera people showed up with tuns of questions.

I have been inspired By Will.i.am because he has grown up in a small and “poor” town and he has given us a great gift.Will.I.am visited Pt England school and presented a 100,000,00
cheque to the Manaiakalani trust. The Kapa Haka group came on first and then the senior hip-hop came on and blew Will.I.Am’s sock’s off...

Will said we could be the next “Mark Zuckerberg or the next Bill Gates”. If we work hard and put all our effort into it. His words were really inspiring in the whole school. Will.I.am is a really down-to-earth guy, I can’t believe that he smiled at me!

I really enjoyed that assembly with Will.i.am because not only he brang the Manaiakalani 100,000 dollars, but that he said we could be anything... Thank you WILL.I.AM!!!!!

WJP Betrayal & Lies

Once upon a time there was a girl named Shae & she was a terrible liar, however one day everything was about to change...

Everyday she would tell her parents she would go to the swimming pools after school. So her mum would give her money. But instead she went gambling with a fake I.D card.

But one day she told a very huge lie about all of her bullies in her school. She would say that all of them had a gambling problem. But actually it was Shae that did.

Because of that, everyone who was involved in this lie was sent to the deans office, with their parents..., Including Shae. Surprisingly Shae was expelled from school, and grounded for a whole year.

Without a doubt, she ran away and went to stay at a mate’s place. She forgot all of her stuff except her clothes.

Until finally she thought about changing her life. She said to herself “I think It’s time to apologize” I said.

Ever since, Shae changed her life, she became a better person. She always faced consequences and never spoke lies ever again.

The Moral of the story is to never tell a lies! You should always tell the truth And Never drag anybody into your own personal problems!

Dory and Marlin - Just Swimming

Underneath the cold blue sea, Dory swam up to Marlin and cheerfully exclaimed  like a happy clown “Hey Mr Grumpy Gills.” Dory was trying to cheer up Marlin “When life gets you down, you know what you gotta do?”.
Sitting grumpily on a rock Marlin replied, “I don’t want to know what you gotta do”.

Dory smiled and tightly grabbed Marlin’s Finn, dragging him below the dark blue ocean she started singing a song “Just keep swimming, just keep swimming,  just keep swimming, swimming, swimming What do we do? We swim swim.”
Angry and annoyed Marlin shouted “Dory, No singing”.

”I love to swim. When you want to swim” Dory happily replied. Frustrated and tired Marlin grumbled “See I'm gonna get stuck now with that song now it’s in my head”.
Quickly Dory responded, “ Sorry.”

What does Easter mean?

“Why does Easter eggs relate to Easter?”
Easter eggs are related to special religions and celebrations. In other country's Easter eggs are well during the season of Eastertide. The Easter egg for some Christians is a reminder that Jesus rose from the dead.

The Christian way of representing Easter is how Jesus was crucified and came back alive. Some say he was beat up and whip and also nail onto the cross. He died and people left him. The days later he rose from the dead.

Surfing Dog

Last week, I decided to train my dog and make him strong and sporty. My dog was named Sparky and was a friendly German Shepherd. Sparky was a good dog, he wasn't afraid of anything except perhaps the sea. This was a problem as we lived right by the beach.
Sparky and I would often see a lot of people surfing as we walked along the sand, and I really wanted to try it out. Sparky didn't like the idea of that.

Pulling the leash, I tried to get Sparky into the water but he was so afraid. Tug after tug finally got him down to the shore. Gently, I put my hand in my pocket and brought out Sparky’s favourite treat. Tossing it into the water, Sparky took a few small steps towards the waves. Scared as a bird, he took little steps into the water and moved closer towards the treat.
“Sparky you accomplished your goal you're not scared any more.’
“Woof woof” he barked without any fear.

As Sparky was in the water, I grabbed a surfboard to begin our surfing lesson. Placing the board on the sand, we learnt a lot of new training techniques from a friendly instructor
Strapped tightly to the board, we were ready to surf. Heading towards the massive waves, I triple tightened his life jacket and triple knotted the rope that was attach to the board.  I wanted ot make sure that Sparky was secure, I’d hate for anything to go wrong.

Off he went getting closer to the wave. “Splash!” Out came Sparky, surfing the biggest wave I’d ever seen.”Go Sparky” I shouted with happiness.
Watching Sparky surf the wave was the best thing that happened to me. I raced to the car and got the camera and filmed him, so we could watch it over and over again. Sparky, poking his tongue out,  emerged from a big wave looking happy and amazed.

Filled with confidence, Sparky attempted a trick. Slipping off his board,  the safety rope, that I had taken care to secure, was easily destroyed. Watching Sparky falling into the cold blue sea, I freaked out and was scared and quickly called the emergency number.

Surprised and shocked, Sparky suddenly appeared having  floated up to the surface. Thank goodness for triple tightening his life jacket. As he paddled back to shore, I was glad that my dog was safe and not hurt.
”No more tricks Sparky” I told him,  “Woof!” he replied!
